Foul Weather Friends : A Oddish Adventure

The all-too familiar sound of the announcer's voice finally faded off as the episode began. As usual, Ash-tachi was strolling down a path supposedly in the middle of nowhere. No village in sight, not even a house, the path was well-kept and had lovely little shrubberies lining it. Obviously it was a nice place and the trio felt no danger as they passed by potentially dangerous Pokemon. Misty kept a smile on her face and a song in her heart as she warned everyone not to breathe in stun spore from the Vileplume just on the other side of the shrubberies. Many grass Pokemon were spotted and the group passed by without a care in the world. Everything was peaceful and good, and as it would soon turn out, the three humans and Pikachu were ready and all-too willing to help out any Pokemon seemingly in need. Little did they know that their kindness and habit of butting into others' business would wind up in a muddled mess of confusion...

Foul Weather Friends
The Oddish Adventure!

Brock was flirting again.

"You've captured my heart just like you did that Hoppip!" he declared. Misty pulled him away to let the other guy talk to the strange girl they had just met. Sure, this girl would MUCH rather talk to some little 12-yr. old boy instead of another girl closer to her age.

"I'm Mariah!" the girl informed Ash. Soon after, she had them in her house, sitting at her kitchen table, and having a drink. So what if she had JUST met this unusual trio? So what if they were unknown travellers passing through an uninhabited area and she lived all alone? (It must be a kids' show)

At Misty's question of how Hoppip can help predict weather, Mariah cheerfully led them out to her yard where the Hoppip frolicked in a secure, netted-in pen. She explained and pointed out how Hoppip actions accurately predicted wind gusts. Everyone smiled as the two Hoppip that had been picked up by a small breeze floated lightly and harmlessly to piles of soft hay. Suddenly, the little Pokemon huddled togther again. Misty, who pointed out this obvious act, felt a sense of worry deep down inside, but managed to keep a smile of delight on her face as the wind came right on cue.

"Hey, this one didn't blow away!" she cried as a deformed Hoppip ran intently after the others. Sure enough, it wasn't flying! Mariah laughed it off as the Pokemon climbed up the netting, turned around, and jumped off. It bounced off the safety offered by the hay, but climbed onto a boulder and lept off. It splatted face-first into the hard soil as the humans' laughter subsided. They came over as the little one got to its feet and appeared to have a black eye. Misty, with all her kindness-to-Pokemon beliefs, knelt down and produced a handkerchief from nowhere, then proceeded to wipe off the dirt collected on the Pokemon's face from it's impact. She pulled the cloth away and gasped as she realized that she had just uncovered a secret!

"Oddish..." the Pokemon whimpered.

"That isn't a Hoppip!" Brock exclaimed.

"No, it isn't." Mariah agreed as she went on to explain that this was an Oddish who played wth her Hoppip so much that it thought it WAS one! The Oddish began crying as everyone stood around and talked about it.

"So that's why it didn't fly away with the others..." Misty concluded. "Oh, I wish there was some way to help you!" she comforted the Pokemon. It stopped crying as it stared at her. Misty stared back.

All I want is to fly as gracefully and carefree as my friends- the Hoppip, do! Oddish thought at her. It tried to communicate its desire with her, but all that came out was an, "Oddish! Odd! Odd!" Misty blinked, then smiled as she squealed about how cute it was.

If the humans couldn't even help it, the Oddish decided that the only thing to do was to take what it had been trying all along to the extreme. If the humans, the ones who fed it every day, provided shelter and love, had a tool or instrument to help with every little aspect of life, if these people couldn't help, nobody but itself could.

So the delusional Oddish narrowed its eyes in determination at Misty and came up with the first plan. "Oddish!" it cried as it suddenly flew at her head.

"OMIGOSH IT'S A VAMPIRE!!!" Misty screamed as she flailed over. Togepi went flying, but by some mysterious feat of dumb luck, Pikachu happened to be standing right where it was headed. Togepi was caught with ease and was as safe as ever. Meanwhile, Misty was flailing around as the Oddish scrambled and fought to get onto her head.

"Misty! It just wants to get on your head! It won't eat you!" Mariah pointed out, appearing a little shaken. Oddish had never acted like this before. Misty was screaming too loudly to listen, so Mariah leaned down and plucked up the Pokemon to leave Misty thrashing. "Oh!" Mariah cried as the Oddish struggled out of her hands and climbed its way up her and onto her head. She laughed and asked, "You want to be able to see everything better?"

But the Oddish replied simply by leaping off her head and crashing to the ground.

"Oh Oddish! Are you alright?!" she gasped as the Pokemon didn't move. Misty kept flailing.

"Drat it all! Foiled again!" the Oddish grunted in an evilly-dark voice. Everyone gasped and jumped back and Misty finally came to a pause as she realized that the Pokemon wasn't flying at her anymore.

"Awright, anodah talkin Pokemon!" a familiar voice cheered. A loud bang was heard along with a voice scolding, "You gave us away you imbosil!" The good guys all blinked in confusion.

"Oh well, we were going to come out anyways." a beautifully-glamorous red-haired girl stated as she lept out of the bushes and stood before them in a cool pose. "Prepare for trouble!"

"And you'd better make that double!" another voice followed as a guy also jumped out. He had nice purple hair and was holding a beautiful rose.

"Oh I just LOVE romantic things!" Misty dreamily squealed at the sight of it. The guy went "ack!" and fell over; anime-style.

"To protect the world from devastation!" the girl, obviously annoyed, continued.

"To unite all people within our nation!" the guy followed.

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jesse!"

"James!"

"Oddish! Mwahahahaha!" the Oddish ever-so-rudely cut in. This time, both Jesse and James fell over anime-style.

"You really can talk!" a cat-Pokemon cheered again; it was the same voice that had been heard before! "Meowth! You can join up wit us! I really hafta admit dat dese two aren't woyth any time talkin to. I-"

"Enough!" the Oddish cried in its powerful voice. "I care not of what you think! I am on a mission and have no time or your foolish problems... for I am... ODDISH! Lord of Lemmings!" Meowth's face looked like 0.0

"LEMMINGS???" eveyone questioned as it pulled its face out of the dirt and got up.

"What kind of Pokemon is that?!" Ash asked, excitedly pulling out his Johto League Pokedex. Brock, Misty, and Pikacu all sighed mushroom clouds as the device declared that there was no Pokemon recorded by the name of 'Lemming'.

"Fool... anyways, leave me be to conduct my complex plans of Lemmingness!" the Oddish commanded.

"You're da fool for messing wit me!" Meowth hollered, following this by a set of fury swipes.
